The postdoc years are essential for academic career development. During this period, scientists are often torn between conflicting priorities of intellectual independence, on the one hand, and meeting professional obligations towards their employers, on the other hand.
Which of these tasks are particularly important? What are the top priorities? Which time frame is appropriate and compatible with my personal private priorities? How important is the habilitation?
The first part of the seminar will be dedicated to learning about and evaluating the various requirements for a long-term career in academia.
Based on this, you will review your current academic profile and specify your next goals and the major steps towards qualifying for a long-term academic career. Furthermore, the workshop will particularly focus on understanding the German academic system.
The seminar includes subsequent process support. Participants have the opportunity to send their application documents to the trainer when entering the application phase and receive written feedback on optimization possibilities.
TARGET AUDIENCE: The workshop is specifically designed for doctoral candidates in the advanced stages of their doctoral studies and postdocts in the early stages of their career (1-4th postdoc year) who are participants in the mentoring programm of the Graduate Academy (GRADUS).
