What does the mobility of the future look like? How will we travel in cities? What buildings does the mobility revolution require? What mobility in Stuttgart be like in the future?

Over the last three years, architecture students from the University of Stuttgart have been exploring new forms of mobility and experimenting with these in various places in Stuttgart. They developed drone ports behind the main train station, cable cars on the Eiermann Campus, and a MobiLab in Vaihingen. The exhibition "Fast Forward: New Mobility for Stuttgart" presents 30 student projects that were developed as part of the Integrated Project Structural Engineering.

What is the Integrated Project Structural Engineering?

The Integrated Project Structural Engineering is conducted by Faculty 1 Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Stuttgart and is taught using a unique cooperative learning format. For over 40 years, aspiring architects have been tackling this design project in their second year of study. A special feature of the project is the integration of disciplines involved in planning: Structural design, building services engineering, building physics, acoustics, and lighting design. In their interdisciplinary work, students are supported by three institutes and a team of architects and engineers from the Stuttgart region. The goal is not only to create unusual designs, but to develop constructive and innovative solutions for a challenging task.

The team of advisors, architects, and engineers, come from the field and support the teaching with their many years of professional experience. Some even have hands-on experience of the Integrated Project from their own student days at the University of Stuttgart and are happy to pass on their valuable experience to the next generation.
