In this workshop, participants will learn about different biases in research and academic writing and reflect upon their own work.

Similar to cognitive biases, which impact human behaviour and decision making and are the root cause for unilateral or one-sided perceptions of the world, biases in research lead to distorted perspectives in research or distorted results. Reason enough to take a closer look. Through interactive exercises and examples, participants will reflect on diverse biases in research, learn what steps can be taken to avoid them, and reflect on unbiased language to communicate research results.

The workshop is a coopreration between uniqUS, Unit for Inclusive University Culture, and the Language Center of the University of Stuttgart.

The workshop can be counted towards the “Module Research” in the certificate program “Gender and Diversity: Diversity in Management, Teaching, and Research.”

Since there are only a limited amount of spots available, please register by sending an to diversity-zertifikat@uni-stuttgart.de.
