Research in Metabolic Engineering (e.g. Synthetic Biology) and Systems Biology with emphasis on the application of science for technical purpose. Establised research topics are mathematical modelling of biological systems and its experimental validation ( Bioanalytics, e.g. Proteomics, Fluxomics and Tanscriptomics) all along with current topics in Bioprocess Engineerin g (up- and downstream processing), Biocatalysis, and Nanobiotechnology. Current examples are the optimiztion of rec. protein production (in vitro and in vivo) , and the investigation of global stress responses of micro-organisms at process relevant conditions.
