Führung / Leadership
Leadership is always a complex and challenging issue – but, in academia you have to face the fact that, on the one hand, the primary task of gaining new knowledge is a thoroughly democratic process, whereas, on the other hand, the university as an organisation entails a hierarchical structure. Hence, academic leadership has to consider both aspects. Furthermore, in an academic career, leadership skills become more and more important besides scientific excellence – but are never ‘taught’.
Therefore, the workshop offers an opportunity to enhance and deepen your leadership skills. Starting point is the reflection on a pre-condition for successful leadership: analysing your role and clarifying your self-conception as a leader. This is the fundament for further subjects that can support you to expand your leadership repertoire.
Workshop topics:
- Analysing and clarifying your professional role(s)
- Basic leadership skills and tasks
- Leadership styles
- Leadership and followership
- Fundamentals of team dynamics
- Sources of power and influence in organisations
- The meaning of self-authorisation
- Delegating
- Value-driven conflict management
